Visual Journaling - Beginnings with Orly Avineri

I just had the BEST day here in San Diego. I did a workshop on visual journaling taught by Orly Avineri and it was fantastic! There were 10 people total - so it was an intimate group of eager artists. Everyone was so warm and friendly, I felt right at home as soon as I walked in the door. The event was hosted by Pnina Gold another super talented artist (and she even made lunch for all of us . . . wow)! Thank you, Pnina!!

These are the pages that I completed today. It's a start and a perfect stage for the kind of journal writing that I want to do. Love using the pens after the pages have been varnished - these squiggles were done initially with my eyes closed!!

It was a total "meant-to-be" that I found this workshop and all these lovely people! I was reading some of my favorite blogs - so, first I found Brian's blog and then Orly's blog. I was so impressed by the caliber of the work that Brian did in her workshops and her pages that I thought, gee wonder if she is doing any workshops. And of course she was doing one in San Diego on Sunday!! I took a chance and emailed Orly on Friday, on the off-chance that there was space in the workshop . . . right . . . what are the odds that one person had to cancel - - pretty high, evidently!! Meant to be.

These were a couple pages done quickly with a some scraps and doodle roses - - the theme for the workshop!

One of the most compelling aspects of doing a workshop, is seeing what everyone creates! Even though we were all doing the same process, our journals were all so different, and individual. All of the created spreads were beautiful - - what a joy it is to work with other artists!

There was no link, but it was from Elise, so I was guessing! I hope it was you! {Or I feel really silly, now!} Half Moon Bay was gorgeous! The whole time we talked/dreamed about moving there. . . sigh . . . I'll be seeing you around Blogland! So happy you got to take the class! Lucky girl! Take care!
