I Hate Goodbyes. . .

Here is my Aunt Nancy - a photo taken when she was about 2 or so. She died late last year and for some reason I am having a tough time with that today. I miss her - she had a super contagious laugh! And a wicked sense of humor!

She was an awesome thrifter, and took me to all the best second-hand shops in Chico. I have several of the pieces in my studio, this sweet embroidered picture was from a treasure hunt with her to the Goodwill.

Many of my fondest memories are of this wonderful rambling house. In the Summer we (brothers, cousins and friends) would rush to the OneMile (the river that runs through the city) and swim all day long then play games until we were exhausted. At night everyone watched the latest episode of Star Trek or sat around on cushions talking - it was the 60's afterall!

Every time I see a Japanese Maple, I think of her. It is that glorious tree on the left that is so vibrant!

I didn't get a chance to say good-bye, not properly.

I miss you!
Isn' t she lovely!

  1. Hugs for you Elise!
Isn't it funny how that works? I mean how on a given day you can't get the person out of your head? Who knows, maybe she's thinking how much she misses you too.
    :-)
