Everything Turquoise and Green

I have no idea why I love thrift store shopping as much as I do. It could be that I have always loved "finding" little treasures. Growing up on the California coast, I would find shells, sea glass and the occasional rusted metal treasure along the shore. Small smooth stones found their way into my pocket also and I would arrange these sweet wonders on my window sill and keep them in old coffee tins. Now I forage in the bins and shelves of my favorite San Diego thrift stores and share the goodies here and in my Etsy shop.

Recently, for whatever reason, I seemed to see everything that was turquoise - or green and turquoise! An old plastic silverware sorter, a round plastic plate and various pieces of vintage trim started the whole thing! And what about this awesome cup with the zodiac!!

This was such a great find! In perfect condition and the perfect size for family dinners!

Not everything was turquoise - these plastic doilies totally rock and there is a jade green plastic table runner that must be from the 50's.
And then there were babies.
And more babies.
And more teeny baby stuff.
Plus, who wouldn't like a plastic stork!
But my favorite finds are always fabric. I come from a long line of seamstresses - and I cannot resist wool, linen flocked fabrics or any vintage piece that catches my eye. This sweet embroidered wool shawl has a few small holes but overall - a very special find. And the dotted swiss already has a creamy beige color. Perfect for some projects I have in mind!!

I am off to the Pasadena Swap Meet this weekend with my treasure hunting pal Bebe. I just know that there are tons of things to find and share.

  1. There really are some wonderful thrift shops in SD. When we lived there, I loved the thrift shops in Chula Vista and always found some treasure. My last antiquing trip (on the east coast) I found the best things in thrift shops. Thanks for sharing. Have fun up in Pasadena.
